Donowstag: Hagestolz presents Grace Gallagher

Grace Gallagher is an English printmaker.
She graduated from Glasgow school of art where she studied Illustration.
Her work focuses on the links between the academic world and the creative one.
This series of prints are inspired by the book 'Topics in Recreational Mathematics' by J H Cadwell.
In this book the author talks of the beauty and fascination of mathematics, a subject that is as important to Grace as art is.
With these prints she wanted to illustrate the theories within the book to show how beautiful maths can be.

Die Figuren von Gabel² könnten einer anderen Welt entstammen.
Ihre doch menschlichen Züge sind seltsam entrückt und leer, ausdruckslose Augen werfen wissende Blicke auf den Betrachter. Sie stehen im Raum, sind anwesend und wirken wie Ikonen die über uns wachen und geben doch nichts über sich preis.
Eine kleine Auswahl dieser Wesen ist ab dem 26. Februar im Hagestolz in Berlin zu sehen. Eröffnung ab 21:00 mit Trunk und Musik.

The figures of Gabel² look like from an other world.
There human appearance is strange and they glance at the viewer with an empty but knowing look. They act like icons, guardians watching after us, but still doesn´t tell anything about themselves.
A small selection of these creatures is seen from February 26th at the Hagestolz Berlin. Exhibition starting at 9:00 pm.
